KUALA LUMPUR (April 19): Five masked raiders armed with knives and an axe robbed a Genting Casino in Edgbaston, Birmingham, on Easter Sunday.
Yesterday, the Birmingham Mail reported that the armed robbers demanded money from staff and one customer's wallet before they escaped in a VW Golf vehicle.
The report added the West Midlands Police are now asking for information about the robbery, as a large amount of cash was stolen.
Birmingham Mail quoted a spokeswoman as saying, "Police were called just after 9pm to Genting Casino, Norfolk Road, Edgbaston, on Sunday April 16 following a report of an armed robbery.
"A group of approximately five men [is] believed to have entered the premises and demanded money from staff.
"The group [was] armed with weapons, including bats, knives and an axe, which was used to strike the cash desk and threaten staff.
"Threats were also made to a customer in the casino and his wallet was stolen," the spokeswoman added.
The report added that police inquiries into the robbery are ongoing.
