KUALA LUMPUR (July 15): Ernst & Young Advisory Services Sdn Bhd (EY) has appointed Amarjeet Singh as its Malaysian tax practice leader effective July 1.

In his new role, Amarjeet will lead a team of more than 400 tax professionals in Malaysia who provide tax services to a broad range of clients across all principal industry sectors and market segments in the country.

In a statement today, EY said Amarjeet has more than 18 years of professional experience in the field of taxation, particularly in tax structuring and incentives, as well as group reorganisations and initial public offerings. He has been involved in some of the country’s largest mergers and group re-organisations, including investment structuring for public utilities, plantations, property, automotive, leisure and tourism groups.
 
Amarjeet is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK; and a member of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia and the International Fiscal Association. He is also a licensed tax agent and GST agent with the finance ministry.

EY Malaysia managing partner Datuk Abdul Rauf Rashid said: “Amarjeet brings a wealth of experience in tax and this is an area where we expect to see significant growth.
