KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 18): Former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in relation to the latter's probe into power abuse, criminal breach of trust, and money laundering involving a foundation's fund.

In a press statement, MACC said the arrest was made at 3.15pm at its headquarters in Putrajaya today, after the commission obtained the go ahead from the Attorney-General's Chambers.

"Ahmad Zahid will face several charges under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001," the MACC said. 

Ahmad Zahid will be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow at 8am.
