KUALA LUMPUR (May 5): Malaysian Green Technology Corp has appointed a former Jaguar Land Rover vehicle dynamics specialist, Dr Mohd Azman Zainul Abidin, as its group chief executive officer (CEO).
Mohd Azman is taking over from Ahmad Hadri Haris who has led GreenTech Malaysia for four years, said the agency, which is under the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water or KeTTHA, in a statement today.
"With the appointment of Dr Mohd Azman Zainul Abidin, we look forward to GreenTech Malaysia’s next phase of growth and success. His breadth of experience and solid track-record will benefit GreenTech Malaysia hugely.
"Given his vast technical and management expertise, I am certain the company will continue to deliver on its ambitions of establishing Malaysia as a green community in the near future,” said GreenTech Malaysia group chairman, Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui.
To Ahmad Hadri, Chin thanked him for his contribution, saying GreenTech Malaysia has evolved into a corporation that is professional and performance-driven under his leadership, and wished him success on his future endeavours.
Prior to joining GreenTech Malaysia, Mohd Azman was CEO and executive director at DFRAN Research Technologies Sdn Bhd and CMS Consortium Ecotour Sdn Bhd respectively from 2014.
Mohd Azman, according to GreenTech Malaysia, has a docotorate in vehicle dynamics at Loughbourough University, England and was the first Malaysian to serve at the Jaguar Land Rover Design & Engineering Centre, which is also in England, as a vehicle dynamics specialist.
He returned to Malaysia in 2007 under the Human Resources Ministry's 'Expert Returning Home' special programme, after which he was appointed the head of automotive laboratory at the automotive department in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
In 2009, he was seconded to Proton as the first 'Proton Professor' to oversee the creation of a specialised research and development collaboration between UTM and Proton.
"Given his diverse and in-depth knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering, as well as energy efficient and electric mobility solutions, his insights are expected to shape the future of GreenTech Malaysia as a dynamic and vibrant organisation," GreenTech Malaysia's statement read.
"With great strides in the green technology sector taking place across the globe, I am aware that the expectations from GreenTech Malaysia as the nation’s lead agency are high and will only increase with time. As such, I am honoured to have been appointed as the group CEO of GreenTech Malaysia at such a crucial point in time, and firmly believe that GreenTech Malaysia will live up to these expectations,” said Mohd Azman on his appointment.
"I am confident that we will be able to transform Malaysia into a green nation, one that is sustainably and economically progressive,” he added.
