KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 15): Following a fire that broke out at The Andaman hotel resort in Langkawi, Datai Langkawi resort which operates adjacent to the property said its patrons were not affected.
“The resort also confirms that the incident did not result in any injury or harm to guests, team members or the treasured surrounding wildlife and rainforest,” The Datai Langkawi said in a statement.
It said as a precautionary measure, the authorities continue to monitor the situation, while an official investigation is underway.
“With health and safety of guests and team members always the utmost priority, the resort’s in-house emergency response team took all immediate precautionary measures and determined actions to protect people, property and the natural surroundings.
“The Datai Langkawi remains open and welcomes guests with some resort facilities temporarily closed due to enhanced restrictions implemented by the government effective Jan 13 in the shared effort to contain the Covid-19 situation,” it added.
Two days ago (Jan 13), Landmarks Bhd confirmed that a major fire incident took place at its Langkawi hotel resort, The Andaman. It said all guests and staff have been evacuated safely.
It said the financial impact of the fire has yet to be fully ascertained, and any property and financial losses arising from this incident are covered by insurance policies taken up by the company.
