KUALA LUMPUR (March 4): The wife of late Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Nazrin Hassan — Samirah Muzaffar — and two teenagers aged 13 and 16, were today jointly charged with murder at the Petaling Jaya magistrates court.
They were charged with murdering Nazrin before magistrate Mohamad Ikhwan Mohd Nasir.
No plea was recorded from all of them after the charge was read by the court interpreter.
They, along with another Indonesian woman at large named Eka Wahyu Lestari, were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code with murdering Nazrin at a house in Mutiara Homes between 11.30pm on June 13, 2018 and 4am on June 14, 2018.
If convicted, Samirah may face the mandatory death sentence.
However, the death sentence does not apply to the two teenagers.
Also present in the packed court room were Just World president Datuk Dr Chandra Muzaffar, who is Samirah's father, and other family members.
Samirah and the two teenagers were represented by lawyers LS Leonard and Mahinderjit Singh.
DPP Datuk Jamil Aripin applied that the court imposed a gag order on the media not to report the names of the underaged kids or any descriptions which may lead to their identification.
Jamil also asked that the case be transferred to the High Court.
The magistrate gave the necessary orders regarding the gag order on the media.
Mohamad Ikhwan also allowed the transfer of the case to the High Court.
The charging today comes after a second post mortem was performed on Nazrin.
