KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 15): Malaysia today saw 1,208 new Covid-19 cases, with a spike of new cases in Klang Valley, making it the third consecutive day of four-digit new cases.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 47,417 cases.

Despite four-digit figure recoveries of 1,013 today, total active cases still rose to a fresh high of 12,323, said Ministry of Health (MoH) director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today. The total number of recoveries to-date stood at 34,785.

Of these, 104 Covid-19 patients are being treated in intensive care units, with 42 requiring respiratory assistance.

Today, the Klang Valley topped the list with 661 new cases, representing more than half of today’s confirmed infections or 54.7%. From this, Kuala Lumpur reported 469 cases, while Selangor saw 185 cases and one from Putrajaya.

The cluster that reported the highest number of cases was the Damanlela Construction Site (Tapak Bina Damanlela) Cluster in Kuala Lumpur, with 460 cases.

This was followed by Sabah with 381 cases, Negeri Sembilan (48), Penang (42), Labuan (30), Perak (21), Johor (nine), Kedah (eight), Sarawak (four), Malacca (two), Kelantan (one) and Perlis (one).

Of today’s new cases, only seven were related to clusters from prisons, namely Seberang Perai Prison cluster (four cases), Sandakan Prison Cluster (two cases) and Kepayan Prison Cluster (one case).

Three deaths were reported today, bringing total number of deaths to 309. All from Sabah, one fatality was an eight-year old child who died in Hospital Tawau. The other two Sabahans who died at the Duchess of Kent Hospital were a 77-year old man with high blood pressure, heart disease and kidney disease, and a 63-year old woman with diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease.

There were only six imported cases today, all involving foreigners who returned from India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Indonesia.
