SINGAPORE (April 18): Cogent Holdings will commence construction of a new warehouse on a plot of land measuring 9.6 acres in the Port Klang Free Zone, Malaysia.
The construction is part of phase two following the completion of phase one of its warehouse and container depot facilities there.
The contract for the construction of phase two was awarded to Shui Xing Ventures on April 14 by SH Cogent Logistics, the logistics company’s indirect wholly-owned subsidiary.
It will cost Cogent $8.9 million, which will be funded by bank loans and internal funds.
Construction is expected to complete in April next year and the new warehouse facility will have a build-up area of not less than 6.2 acres.
Cogent says the new warehouse would enable the company to establish a “stronger foothold” in the warehousing market in PKFZ.
The company adds that SH Cogent has already secured a tenant on a three-year term lease, who will move in once phase two is completed.
Shares of Cogent ended down 0.5 cent or 1.02% to 48.5 cents.
