KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 17): Chin Hin Group Bhd’s founder Datuk Seri Chiau Beng Teik has emerged as a substantial shareholder in frozen food manufacturer Saudee Group Bhd after acquiring 8.1 million shares or a 5.02% stake in the company in the open market yesterday.

The transacted price, however, was not disclosed in the filing. Saudee's shares closed 2.5 sen or 5.26% higher at 50 sen yesterday. Year to date, the counter has gained 61% from when it was trading at 31 sen on Jan 3.

According to Saudee's website, the company specializes in manufacturing frozen processed food products such as burger patties, nuggets, sausages, meatballs and many others, which retail under the brand name Saudi Gold and Farm’s Gold.

Chiau is the deputy group executive chairman of Chin Hin and non-executive chairman of Chin Hin Group Property Bhd (CHGP). Chin Hin provides building material and services to the construction and building industries, while CHGP is its property arm.

Besides major equity stakes in Chin Hin and CHGP, Chiau, 59, also holds stakes in Solarvest Holdings Bhd and Green Ocean Corp Bhd.
