KUALA LUMPUR (May 22): Chevron Malaysia Limited, which markets the retail brand, Caltex will donate some 2,800 meals to frontliners in partnership with Grab Malaysia.
In a statement, the firm said from May 15 May to 11 June, Caltex and Grab will deliver food packs to health workers at clinics, as well as police officers and army personnel who are manning roadblocks.
It said under this program, Caltex and Grab are working with Alibaba and Nyonya Cafe, a home-grown restaurant which serves authentic Malay-Nyonya cuisine with a contemporary twist, to supply the food packs in their bid to support local businesses throughout this challenging period.
It said Grab will collect the food prepared by Alibaba and Nyonya Cafe before sending them to frontliners at various clinics and roadblocks.
Chevron Malaysia country chairman Jay Gomez said Chevron understands and recognises the tremendous concerted effort, time and dedication of health workers and law enforcement personnel.
“It is fitting that this initiative is taking place on the cusp of Hari Raya Aidilfitri as it is a time for togetherness and unity.
“We hope these donations will show our brave frontliners that we’re standing by them during this challenging time,” said Gomez.
Gomez also commended Grab Malaysia for its accommodation and professionalism throughout this period.
Meanwhile, Grab Malaysia head of operations Rashid Shukor said the company was proud to collaborate with Caltex to ensure that the nation’s frontliners are not forgotten during these difficult times by making sure that they never miss a meal.
“We are thrilled for the opportunity to play a part in supporting these local heroes and our hearts and appreciation go out to them for their selfless efforts,” he said.
