KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 20): Cardiff City Football Club (FC) chairman Mehmet Dalman said the club is “lucky” to have Malaysian tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun as its owner as the businessman and the board had been very supportive of the club’s efforts to steer itself in the right direction.

The club recently brought on board a slew of new players, with the most recent addition being Liverpool FC's Harry Wilson, who will be on loan for one season to the club at a cost of £1.2 million (RM6.44 million).

Others include Sheyi Ojo, also from Liverpool, Leicester defender Filip Benkovic, Charlton goalkeeper Dillion Phillips, Kieffer Moore and Jordan Osei-Tutu.

WalesOnline quoted Dalman as saying: "We're going in the right direction, and we feel the squad's taking the right shape.

"On paper, it looks like great business. But we have to make sure it is great business. We have to get results on the pitch with the performances.

“We're really lucky to have Vincent Tan at the football club. Really lucky. The board was great in supporting me,” he said.

Tan, who is the founder and owner of Berjaya Group, reportedly led a Malaysian consortium which purchased 30% of Cardiff City shares around 10 years ago.

The consortium subsequently increased its stake to 90%.
