KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 8): Johan Holdings Bhd, whose shares jumped 40.63% in intra-morning trade to a four-month high of 22.5 sen, was issued with an unusual market activity (UMA) query by Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd.
Johan Holdings was 19th on the list of 20 most active stocks, with 83.82 million shares traded — more than 50 times its 200-day trading average of 1.63 million.
“We draw your attention to the sharp rise in price and volume of your company’s shares recently,” said Bursa Malaysia in a filing with the local stock exchange today.
Bursa requested that Johan disclose any investment decision, corporate development, rumour or report concerning the business and affairs of the group, and any other possible reasons, for the sharp increase in its share price and volume traded.
At 2.45pm, shares in Johan were up six sen or 46.88% at 24 sen, giving it a market capitalisation of RM182.99 million.
