KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 25): Hotel Equatorial Penang is the latest casualty of the Covid-19 pandemic and will cease operations on March 31.
In an internal memo to all employees of the hotel sighted by theedgemarkets.com, its senior vice president — operations and projects Alan Ong said the closure of the hotel was a "sad and difficult decision".
"The last day of business to the public has yet to be decided but it will be before March 31, 2021. Until we officially cease operations, all of you shall remain as employees of the hotel and we remain committed to upkeep the strong heritage and name of Hotel Equatorial Penang," he said.
According to him, the hotel will pay severance benefits, with details to be announced later, despite having suffered losses.
"Please be rest assured that the management shall strive to comply with all its obligations to you in accordance with your terms and conditions of employment," he added.
