KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 15): In a rare move, Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) said that effective Monday (Nov 15) the central bank’s Fully Automated System for Issuing/Tendering (FAST) website will no longer be accessible via Google Chrome and can only be accessed via the Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge platforms.
BNM, however, did not specify in its notice why the FAST website will no longer be accessible via Google Chrome.
FAST is a system designed to facilitate the primary issue of all debt securities and money market instruments approved by BNM and relevant authorities, according to BNM.
The central bank said the debt securities and money market instruments are either issued via tender or on a private placement basis.
According to the attachment with BNM’s notice on the FAST website, BNM said Microsoft Corp recently announced that Internet Explorer 11 will be retired in June 2022 with no further support from Microsoft.
Legacy Internet Explorer-based websites will continue to work with Microsoft Edge via its built-in Internet Explorer Mode.
"This document (attachment) provides [a] basic step-by-step guide to enable Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge for the FAST. This is to ensure that FAST would still be accessible to users once Internet Explorer 11 retires.
"Microsoft Edge is updated from time to time by Microsoft. This guideline is created based on the Microsoft Edge version available currently. Please refer to Microsoft’s official website for more information,” BNM said.
