KUALA LUMPUR (July 23): BMW Group Malaysia is eyeing a double digit growth this year, with the introduction of new models in its motorcycles segment.
More than 600 units of motorcycles have been sold in the first half of calendar year 2015 (1HCY15), as compared to 583 units for the entire CY14, the group's managing director and chief executive officer, Alan Harris, told the media, after the launching of the new BMW S 1000 XR and R 1200 RS two wheeler models.
Head of BMW Motorrad Malaysia, Owen Riley, added the group believes a four figure sales within the motorcycle category is achievable for the remaining CY15.
In total, BMW Group Malaysia has sold more than 3,900 vehicles in 1HCY15 alone, as compared to a total of 9,046 vehicles for the entire CY14, the group's head of corporate communications, Sashi Ambi, explained to The Edge Financial Daily.
"For the motorcycles segment, it is the locally-assembled F 800 R and F 800 GS models that have spurred the market [thus far]," Ambi added.
