KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 11): Berjaya Land Bhd (BLand) has appointed Nerine Tan Sheik Ping, daughter of tycoon and substantial shareholder Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, as its executive director (ED).
Nerine, 39, has more than 16 years of experience in sales and marketing and business development in several operations, BLand said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
Presently, she is the ED of Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd and Berjaya Corp Bhd.
Nerine started work as a business development manager at Cosway (M) Sdn Bhd from January 1999 to September 2002. She was also appointed as vice president in the marketing division of Berjaya Resort Management Sdn Bhd in January 1999 and became the ED of Berjaya Hotels & Resorts (S) Pte Ltd from January 2005 until her resignation in April 2009.
In February 2007, she was appointed as general manager of sales and marketing of Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd (STMSB) and was subsequently promoted to the position of ED of STMSB in April 2010.
Currently, she is overseeing the sales and marketing activities of STMSB including dealings with government authorities, BLand said.
Nerine was appointed as an ED of Berjaya Group Bhd, a related company of STMSB, in January 2013.
In a separate filing, BLand also announced the appointment of Datuk Kee Mustafa as the independent and non-ED of BLand.
Kee, 65, was a career civil service officer, having served the Sabah state government for 33 years from 1974 to 2007.
BLand also appointed Kee as a member of its audit committee.
Meanwhile independent non-ED Datuk Robert Yong Kuen Loke, 63, is appointed as the chairman of the audit Committee.
BLand shares rose 0.5 sen or 0.67% higher to close at 75.5 sen today, for a market capitalisation of RM3.74 billion.
