KUALA LUMPUR (June 14): BIMB Holdings Bhd has promoted Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd deputy chief executive officer (CEO) Khairul Kamaruddin to CEO of the bank for a period of three years starting today.
He takes over from Datuk Seri Zukri Samat, 59, who retired as managing director of Bank Islam Malaysia on June 9, 2017.
Khairul is also currently the chairman of two subsidiaries of Bank Islam, namely BIMB Investment Management Bhd and Farihan Corp Sdn Bhd.
In a statement today, Bank Islam said Khairul’s experience in the local corporate scene spans more than 21 years, including tenures at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd, and was involved in various practices and operations such as audit, business assurance, asset management and recovery.
He joined Bank Islam in 2005 and played a vital role in leading the asset recovery for Bank Islam during the turnaround and transformation years. He was instrumental in transforming the retail business of the Bank by introducing an aggressive sales approach, well balanced with a risk-based performance culture.
He was promoted to the role of deputy CEO last year and was responsible for driving the overall profitability and growth of all the business divisions comprising consumer, commercial, corporate, treasury, deposit and capital market.
