KUALA LUMPUR (March 20): Datuk Mohamed Azmi Mahmood has been appointed as the acting group managing director of AMMB Holdings Bhd (AmBank), effective April 2, 2015.

Azmi will take over from Ashok Ramamurthy, whose contract as group managing director will end on April 1, 2015, while the banking group continues its search for a permanent replacement.

“The board would like to thank Ashok for his contributions to AmBank group over the past eight years, and wish him well in his future endeavours,” said AmBank in a press release.

Azmi is a chartered accountant and has been a part of the banking group since 1981.
