KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 28): Affin Hwang Investment Bank Bhd (Affin Hwang Capital) today signed a business alliance with PT Bahana Securities, a wholly-owned securities subsidiary of PT Bahana Pembinaan Usaha Indonesia.
Affin Hwang Capital managing director Datuk Maimoonah Hussain said the joint distribution and marketing agreement will enable Affin Hwang Capital to work jointly with Bahana to distribute Indonesian securities to clients in Malaysia.
“There is a lot of interest from our institutional clients who are looking to invest in Indonesia,” she told reporters at the signing ceremony.
This is the third partnership signed by Affin Hwang Capital after its strategic partnership with Daiwa Securities Group of Japan and Thanachart Securities of Thailand.
A source hinted that the company will next be entering into a tie-up with a firm in the Philippines next year.
Officiating at today’s event was Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Othman Aziz.
“The business alliance marks an important step in developing closer bilateral economic ties with our Asean partners in terms of capital market cross-border investment and integration,” said Othman.
Affin Hwang Capital will channel its institutional clients' trade orders for shares quoted on the Indonesia exchange via Bahana.
