KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 30): Aegis BPO Malaysia led the winners at Outsourcing Malaysia’s 2016 OM Excellence Awards recently, which honoured contributions and performance by Malaysia’s top companies with the Global Business Services (GBS) sector.

In a statement today, OM said Aegis BPO took the awards for Operational Excellence in Contact Centers and Operational Excellence in HR, as well as its Nurul Shalia being named as the best operations manager under the contact centers “Individual” category.

OM said its sixth award ceremony was Malaysia’s sole distinctive platform that recognises excellence in GBS across organisations and individuals.

“In particular, the awards serve as a catalyst in the development and growth of industry best practices and standards; which in turn continue to strengthen Malaysia’s value proposition and competitive positioning as a world-class GBS location,” it said.

Apart from Aegis BPO, the other winners were Datacom Asia in Operational Excellence in IT, Cuscapi Bhd for Best Practices in Business Process Transformation and Brandt International for Best Practices in Corporate Social Responsibility.

It said the highlight of the ceremony was the 2016 Outsourcing Leader of the Year Award — presented SnT Global Sdn Bhd chief executive officer David Wong.

OM chairman Cheah Kok Hoong said the OM Excellence Awards has developed in tandem with the progress of Malaysia’s GBS industry.

“Hence, with the industry’s growing stature and contribution to Malaysia’s economy, it [is] only apt that we continue to recognise the companies within the industry and celebrate those who have excelled and played a leading role in Malaysia’s continued GBS success story,” he said.

The OM Excellence Awards was held together with the 2016 Smart Sourcing Summit.

Cheah said the GBS sector is poised to record growth of 10% to 15% for the next five years, creating more than 6,000 jobs in 2016.

He said a growing number of companies worldwide are using GBS firms in Malaysia to streamline operations and achieve better quality and cost efficiency.

“GBS is a new driver of business and investments for Malaysia.

“Despite much pessimism for 2017, Malaysia has a strong success story to share via its GBS sector, and we must continue to be aggressive in branding and selling our GBS value to the world,” he said.
