KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 15): Star Media Group Bhd has appointed chartered accountant Christina Foo as an independent and non executive director, effective Oct 1.

Foo, 61, currently sits on the board of UEM Sunrise Bhd and Malaysian Technology Development Corporation Sdn Bhd, Star Media said in a stock exchange filing.

She was a board member of KPJ Healthcare Bhd from March 2018 to June 2021.

Foo also chairs the industry advisory board of Sunway University Business School and was appointed as a senior practice fellow of Sunway Business School from 2018 to 2019.

Additionally, she also chairs the members liaison committee of The Mines Resort & Golf Club.

From 1985 till 2001, Foo had served Ernst & Young (EY) Malaysia, EY LLP based in Atlanta, EY International in London and EY Asia Pacific Consulting. Her last position was director of business development in EY Malaysia.

In 2001, Foo co-founded Priority One Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd and later Priority One Tax Services Sdn Bhd. She was a director of both firms until August 2022.

Foo is a fellow of CPA Australia, Malaysian Institute of Management and Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in business studies (accounting) from Deakin University, Australia.

Star Media’s share price closed unchanged at 29.5 sen, bringing it a market capitalization of RM217.9 million.
