KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 13): Datuk Abu Samah Shabudin has been appointed CEO of the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC).
Ministry Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (MDTCC) said in a statement today that the former director of domestic trade division has served almost 31 years in civil service.
“I accept the position with full of responsibility in ensuring MyCC will always keep on the right track and practice a healthy business to comply the Competition Act 2010, and also making sure the business form aligned with ‘Wawasan 2020’, in order to make it realization,” said Abu Samah.
“I hope the progress is measured not only materially, but also through a mind transformation, as this is to protect consumer from businesses or enterprises practising unethical business nature,” he added.
Abu Samah has experience working in both the private and public sectors. He started his career at Maybank Kuantan. He worked in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, followed by several district offices such as Kuala Selangor and Gombak District Office, before he served for MDTCC.
He has worked extensively in areas concerning good governance and human resources management. He has also participated more than 20 courses and briefings, while he joined civil service and received Excellent Service Award for the year 1998 and 2011.
