KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 10): DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng has initiated legal action against Ketua Ameerah PAS Malaysia and Kepala Batas Member of Parliament (MP) Siti Mastura Mohamad, over her remarks suggesting that Lim has family ties to the late Malayan Communist Party leader Chin Peng and Singapore’s former prime minister, the late Lee Kuan Yew.

In a statement released on Friday, Lim stated that he had appointed Datuk Sankara Narayanan Nair as his lawyer to initiate criminal action and legal proceedings against Siti Mastura for her speech at a PAS Ameerah (young women members) event in Kemaman on Nov 4, which he described as being laced with outrageous lies and malicious slander.

Lim said that Siti Mastura's use of non-existent family ties to invoke fear against both DAP and the Chinese community is clearly racist and extremist.

"What makes Siti Mastura's irresponsible behaviour even more unacceptable is her lack of remorse for making a hate speech full of outrageous lies, racism and extremism. She has refused to provide any proof of the alleged family ties or to recant/apologise for her outrageous lies and malicious slander," he added.

Lim also expressed his concern about PAS supporters' continued support and praise for Siti Mastura.

Thus, he urged both PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to state their position publicly, whether they stand with Siti Mastura's outrageous lies and malicious slander, or disagree with her, requiring her to correct her actions.

In a video posted on social media, Siti Mastura was seen at an event in Kemaman, Terengganu, making allegations against DAP leaders, including Anthony Loke, Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, Nga Kor Ming, Teresa Kok, and Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham, accusing them of having family ties to Chin Peng and Lee.

On Tuesday (Nov 7), Lim demanded that Siti Mastura provide proof for her claims and warned that action would be taken against her, if she failed to do so.
