KUALA LUMPUR (June 21): Invest Selangor Bhd is to bring back the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) 2022 with its second edition from Sept 8 to 10, 2022, at SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre (SkyPark RAC).
In a statement on Tuesday (June 21), Invest Selangor said SAS 2022 will provide an invaluable opportunity for high-level networking and market penetration prospects with industry players from a range of sectors — commercial, business aviation, general aviation and helicopters sub-sectors.
It noted that this year’s iteration has set a target of RM700 million in potential transaction value, as the event returns bigger with more business and investment opportunities in both local and international stages to draw at least 8,000 visitors with at least 70 booths from local and international companies.
“SAS 2022 anticipates around 30 static displays of aircraft and helicopters, including luxury private jets, on the tarmac areas within the SkyPark RAC area,” it added.
Invest Selangor chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari said aside from static displays and exposition, the three-day event will also include business networking, product presentation, seminars as well as training and career path sessions.
“Networking reception are also planned to maximise the exhibitor’s participation which also include a session with potential business aviation clientele or charter flight passengers,” he added.
Meanwhile, Selangor state executive councillor for industry and trade Datuk Teng Chang Khim noted that SAS 2022 will offer a regional perspective of the industry and will be participated by global industry players.
He said among the confirmed participants for this year's edition are Sapura Aero, Destini Avia Technique, Epic Aero, DJI Academy, Superb Access, BCS Aviation, Bibus Metals, Sirim and International Aero Training Academy.
“We are thinking of many more OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and we hope to have many more this year, such as Dassault Aviation with the Falcon Business jet and others,” he said.
Teng also noted that aviation-related associations are to also participate and educate visitors on their respective areas of expertise via planned technical and industry talk sessions and forums during the three-day event.
“AsBAA (Malaysian Chapter) will be overseeing the Safety Day programme on-site whereas WiAA is looking at aviation career talks for future aviators,” he said.
Teng noted although the aviation industry was one of the industries hit hardest by the Covid-19 pandemic, it has begun to recover and requires a catalyst for further growth.
“The aviation industry requires a catalyst, a catalyst to stimulate the growth, despite the unwavering support given by federal and state governments to ensure operators can operate and sustain post-pandemic.
“We believe that our Selangor Aviation Show can be that catalyst,” he said in his officiating speech at the SAS 2022 launch event on Tuesday.
