SINGAPORE (May 22): Huawei and Keppel Data Centres – a 70-30 joint venture company between Keppel T&T and Keppel Land – today announced the launch of Huawei’s cognitive data centre reference site at Keppel DC Singapore 4, formerly known as Keppel Datahub 3 or T20.

This comes after both Huawei and Keppel Data Centres signed a memorandum of understanding to explore potential collaboration on data centre efficiency and sustainability in the areas of green technology, high performance computing, scientific software application, and networking solutions, among others.

In a joint release on Monday, the two companies say the site will showcase their application of cognitive computing within a data centre environment, where enterprises will be able to leverage deep learning and artificial intelligence (AI) driven computing to drive automated insights that will inform their next step of growth.

The cognitive data centre reference site will also feature technologies geared towards providing a virtualised and energy efficient data centre management system, such that enterprises can potentially lower operating & maintenance costs whilst increasing their operational efficiencies.

“We are pleased that our track record as the provider of robust and reliable data centre solutions for the digital economy has paved the way to this collaboration with Huawei. Keppel Data Centres is committed to continuously explore improvements that benefit the mission-critical IT infrastructure of our customers and set industry benchmarks,” comments Kenny Khow, global head of sales, Keppel Data Centres.

“We look forward to potentially uncovering new insights that can enhance the data centre as we know it today.”

Shares of Keppel T&T closed 1 Singapore cent lower at S$1.74 on Monday.
